Feature Friday #6 – Dawn Henderson

Feature Friday

Every Friday we post a ‘Feature Friday’ where we ask a few questions to a member of our team. We hope that they give you a bit of an insight into the people who make Xuper tick. Some of their answers may be surprising, others may be a bit embarrassing, but they’re individual to them.

This week’s feature is:

 Dawn Henderson!

How long have you worked at Xuper?

Since July 2017

Favourite thing about working within IT?

The variety of work we are involved in. I used to work for a Laptop manufacturer just selling hardware. IT Services is much more interesting and varied.

What does your typical work day consist of?

Every day is different, I build quotes, organise engineers for installs, plan out work for projects, book travel for my engineers if a job is outside the UK, manage my customers and build relationships with them by visiting their site offices. I love the variety I get every day.

When did you develop an interest in IT?

My interest is actually in sales and Account management, the fact it’s in IT is a bonus. I’m not technical, as anyone would contest to, but I do love the sense of achievement after completing a job successfully and having a happy customer.

When did you get your first computer?

I was a late comer to computers and my first interaction really was during my work life. I remember me and a work friend getting access to the web for the first time, sitting in front of a blank screen and not knowing what on earth to look for or do with it.  We typed www.   And then had no idea what to do after that. Times have changed.

What hobbies do you have?

My big passion is Travel, I love Asia and have been many times to various countries. I also love music and film and I am currently training to be a dog groomer, something I want to do in my spare time.

What is your favourite film/tv show?

Ooo this is hard, favourite film has to be Dirty Dancing although I don’t really like girlies movies and I am much more an action/adventure film fan but it’s a classic and great music. TV show – Big Bang Theory would be up there and GBBO (I know, sad right?)

Favourite band/artist/song?

Another tough one. My husband is a musician and music teacher so my taste in music is really wide. It’s probably easier to say what I don’t like; which would be heavy rock/metal and country and western.

If you were stuck on a desert island, who would you want to be stuck with and why?

Bear Grylls, I think the why is obvious

Tell us your best joke….

Doctor: “I’m sorry but you suffer from a terminal illness and have only 10 to live.”

Patient: “What do you mean, 10? 10 what? Months? Weeks?!”

Doctor: “Nine.”
